MARCONI PLC: Ratings Withdrawn at the Request of Company
--------------------------------------------------------
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said it withdrew its 'D' corporate credit
rating on U.K.-based telecommunications equipment provider Marconi PLC.

At the same time, Standard & Poor's also withdrew its 'D' senior unsecured
debt rating on the guaranteed related entity Marconi Corp. PLC. The rating
action affects approximately $3 billion of bond debt outstanding.

The withdrawal of the ratings was done at Marconi's request and reflects the
forthcoming debt restructuring that is expected to become effective on May
16, 2003.
