Last night I was a member of the faculty panel at an "Open Forum on Iraq" at my university (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute). It was fun. Don Siegel my chairman was the extreme right winger (he makes Wolfowitz and Israelis to the right of Sharon look moderate). He presented a cost benefit analysis of the war. On my other side was Steve Breyman of the "Science and Technology Studies Department"... he is a political scientist and very left. He has a radio program called "On the Barricades". Then there was Gowdy who introduced himself as a Vietnam Vet and bashed Bush's military service record. I was the centrist and Middle East expert.... Then we fielded a really large number of questions.

Students included some very pro-Bush etc., Muslim women and men and a lot of people I think close to my kind of ambivalent viewpoints. Of course only around 100 or so students out of several thousand were there.
