Jay, what is the basis for thinking a SARS vaccine will take 5 years to develop?

while the impact on HK is obvious, if SARS is bad enough to devastate HK for 5 years, it is hard to believe the rest of the world is that far behind.

i have been reading the series of books by Suzuki Koji on which the movie "The Ring" is based. the books are nothing like the movie. it is about a virus that takes over the world. i started reading them before SARS came out, so the disease strikes me with a strange sense of forboding.
