Secrecy begets tyranny.

Well said. That deserves to be headlines on every national newspaper every morning.

I agree with your assessment.

Let me add two circumstantial incidents, which reek -

The day after 9/11, Bush Senior was caught live on CSPAN making a presentation in front of the Petroleum Institute. What was unbelievable was just watching a former President a day after the worst attack imaginable, and he was relaxed and SMILING. His main point, besides the price of oil? It was this: "don't criticize W for flying the plane and staying away from the White House".

Item Two: Tim Russert was standing in front of the WH on the same day, in the endless chatter with the anchor, and at about 10:30am on 9/12/01 says:"...and guess who was in the White House yesterday morning? George Bush Senior !"

So, the mind boggles - here we have an incident, just coincidentally the same type as an "training exercise" that Rumsfeld says was held on the same day, and Cheney, Rumsfeld and Bush Senior are all at headquarters, while Junior and any other troublesome administration officials are conveniently out of town.

Incredible.
