If there is merit to the patent infringement part of the suit, then some real horsetrading between the lawyers will occur. When that happens, both sides need something they can give up. IOM can easily give up the copyright infringement.
Even though I'm long IOM, I am not happy about the lawsuit because lawsuits usually hurt both sides. I wish IOM had found another way to resolve any legitimate claims against SYQT. IOM can hold its own in the market, but this suit makes it look like they can't. Admittedly, SYQT's technology is now superior, but technology companies are always leapfrogging each other. Absolute technical superiority isn't enough any more. You also need excellent marketing to survive. Just ask Apple and Sony.
P.S. I almost bought SYQT last month, but I wanted it to go down just a little more, it detected it, and immediately reversed. <g> Congrats to any who bought SYQT in the last month. |
