He used to accuse Clinton of pedophilia because he had sex with Monica
I never made such an accusation.
I did say that the Lewinsky ordeal was tantamount to a sexual assault, as it was precluded from being a consensual relationship because of the imbalance of power between the two. Clinton had an absolute and undeniable ethical responsibility, because of the imbalance of power, to (a) not make sexual advances toward Lewinsky, and (b) if she made advances toward him, to refuse them. Period.
These are the allegations I made. Nothing more, nothing less.
I would argue that Clinton did not "have sex with" Lewinsky because she was incapable of making a decision because of the imbalance of power; that, in fact, he assaulted her.
It is a known, proven, indisputable fact that power acts as intoxicant; just as it is illegal to have sex with a woman whom you have drugged with rohypnol, a good attorney could argue that it was criminal for Clinton to have assaulted Lewinsky while she was under the influence of his power. Don't know if the case could be won, but it would not be laughed out of court.
I am not the only person who believes this "imbalance of power" created an ethical, if not a legal, responsibility for Clinton to avoid the relationship.
Your position on this matter is but one more time when you view a technicality as a political escape hatch. People of true ethics do not rely on such technicalities -- they do the right things. |
