One other thing, in regards to your posting style. In this sentence of yours you said,

"I can see the thousands of bums and unemployed, native Belgians and darkies alike.."

Here in the States it is regarded as very insulting and demeaning to refer to minorities as "darkies". I'm sure this was not your intent, but your post could easily be misunderstood by some who read it.
