Tell me what the benefit is, then. Enlighten me :-)
Ok... they provide a democratic presence in an area which is alien to the idea of democracy or individual human rights. Thus, they provide an example, or alternative, of what could result economically, socially, and politically, were the muslims to focus more on their own economic and individual prosperity, than on those "hated Jews", to whom they blame all of their problems. Muslims have little excuse for claiming that can't make the desert bloom.. They have more land, more economic resources, and greater populations than Israel. But they still wallow in sub-standard economic and political conditions. Why? It's not like we're not buying their oil from them. Nor is it plausible to believe that US assistance is the only thing keeping the Israeli economy afloat since were it not for the Muslim aggression towards them, they wouldn't have to spend nearly as much on their military.
And besides, US assistance to Israel is combined with US assistance to Egypt, which essentially keeps both nations from blowing one another off the planet.
Now.. your turn. Tell me what benefits from these non-democratic governments which continue to pervade the region??
