Most of the reasons given for the war are basically propaganda. The idea that the motivating factor is iraqi liberation is absurd, as many have pointed out. However, it is a nice by-product.

However, there is a pretty efficient way David can attack Goliath - terrorism

It is pretty clear that the war on terrorism is in full swing. But a strategy that doesn't address the real problem isn't going to be successful. And contrary to the beliefs of many, the US and Israel are not what causes the creation of terrorists. It is the oppressive governments who suck the will to live out of their people and then blame outsiders for their country's woes. If Iraq can become a successful self-governing secular state, it will be a serious threat to the terrorist breeding nations. Saudis, Kuwaitis, Palestinians, Syrians etc... who just want to live and provide for their families will start to have hope that their quality of life can improve too. This is what revolutions are made of. I believe that those who complain that the U.S. isn't addressing the terrorist problem with action in Iraq aren't looking at the big picture and following this to the logical conclusion.....assuming it goes to plan. It does mean that Iraq will need to be nurtured and that they truly are willing to make the change. If the US uses force against the population going forward, the plan will fall apart.

The Saudis who are in power should be counting the days before they are ousted.
