Jim:

The way the whole tech. market has been going you may well be right short term with your short on darn near anything.

On the other hand I think you are seriously misreading the value of Call Avoidance in general, as if that matters to a TA trader. :)

- It is key that the market *is* OEMs. Very few sane users would shell out good money for a retail add-on, esp. as it would be perceived as a call-dodging scheme. I'm paying $50 for whaaaaat? It will only be used if comes bundled with the computer/software/etc.

- Your experiences calling human tech support must have been far better than mine. In the very rare cases we have had to do this, it has been a pretty darned frustrating experience. (And this is always with the priority 1-900 *pay* services). Time and money are spent on both sides of the fence.

- Have you seen, or heard of, the Apple anti-PC adds a few years ago? I quote from one I have actually seen: "configure jumpers and dip switches?????", and one I have heard 2nd hand "It's your config dot sys!", "Check your auto exec. dot bat!", "Get a Mac........". I do not mean _in_any_way_ to trivialize SystemWizard to this level but I am sure that these ads struck a chord with a great many viewers. I am sure that many, many PC owners positively hooted with laughter at these. All too familiar. If one thinks that the troublesome issues are going away, check out Dvorak's column in the current issue of PC Magazine (O/S Rot). I've been in the S/W O/S business for 25 years - his comments regarding the morass we are heading into ring true in spades.

Differing opinions welcome as always;

Tom
