ben, i noticed the crowd was small as it watched it happen. however, you really only have two camps.

those that benefitted from saddam beating people down and those that were beat down or always had that threat of the beat down.

i feel bad for one and am quite confident they wanted saddam gone and were happy the us did it. millions of them.

i find it hard to feel too bad for anybody that supported saddam.

i will concede that the crowd was small - but remember that saddam has had 34 years to pound on these people and freedom of expression was often met with a bullet and the bill for a family... if they were lucky. it could be much worse. i wouldn't expect 34 years to a lifetime of fear to crumble in a matter of hours.

ps - something to ponder, too, is that the crowd was shot at more than once by saddam loyalists... those folks were literally risking their lives... all 5 of them. -lol-
