As anticipated by the Pentagon, or by sheer luck, it's truly a blessing that Baghdad is now under coalition authority without a major protracted destructive battle and minimal loss of life...

The only argument that I can accept for this war is that the Saddam regime was so entrenched that only a major power could have toppled it... that might have been true, one simply doesn't know... but again, it's no excuse for letting the Iraqis down at least twice before.

Now we'll have to wait and see how long will it take to re-establish law and order and a truly democratic leadership.
