Yes there ARE lives on the line in Iraq- lives we put on the line, to save less lives than we could have saved in the Congo(and on balance we've probably killed more than we've saved). The irony is great.

I think the French were keeping the peace. Not going to war, is pretty much keeping peace. Definitionally speaking.

I'd like to see an actual real UN peacekeeping mission in the Congo. But of course, Great Humanitarians that we are, let's leave that up to another country. We've got Iraq and Afghanistan to run.
