OTTAWA -- Canada would send Mounties to help police in Iraq, but hasn't received a request so far, Prime Minister Jean Chretien said Friday.

"We have sent RCMP officers to Haiti, and elsewhere," Chretien told reporters. "If it is the contribution that we can make, we will do it. If they want us to do something else, we will do something else. But we will be there to help."
