A few interesting things happened in networking this week.

Cisco Gives Options for 75 Million Shares

(apparently this was viewed as a positive for future business prospects by the street)

Juniper Posts Profit, Sees Sales Flat to Up

Both Caspian and Procket finally annouce products (at one point both companies were supposed to ship in 2001)-

Caspian introduces router for telecom sector

Newcomer Procket Takes on Cisco, Juniper

A VC friend of mine once told me that networking would be in recovery mode when Procket finally launched, since they wouldn't want to waste releasing their product when the market was bad. I'm not sure if that theory still holds or if they just got tired of waiting for things to turn.
