Tom: Bernie's Name Changes. In his Message to the shareholders (Q3 Interim Report), Bernie wrote under the "ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES": At the last Annual General Meeting of Shymkentnefteorgsyntez ["ShNOS"], Hurricane's downstream affiliate, shareholders resolved to approve a name change from ShNOS to Hurricane Oil Products. This name change results in a unified branding of all of Hurricane's affiliates. I think that the commitment to the country would be more served by renaming Hurricane Kumkol Munai and Hurricane Oil Products, the upstream and downstream affiliates directly operating in Kazakhstan, rather than changing the name of the parent company...outside of the knowledge of a typical Kazakh. Furthermore, HOP is barely a toddler, it does not make good sense. Frankly, I hate the new name. I would prefer something that represents more the Western expertise in our company. It seems to me that it could trigger more bail-outs of previously enthusiastic longs, myself including. All in all, sucking up to the Kazakhis at the time the stock price is tanking doesn't sound like Bernie. We have to think of another reason. Forecaster
