Hi everybody. I just picked up some Sept. 55 ORCL Calls
@ $4 on Thursday. I figured that the stock might be expected to rise
Friday Aug 1 since that is the deadline for people
who want to get in on the stock split. I figured that
people who have been playing other ponies until now
might pony up some money for ORCL at the last minute.

Is this sensible or am I missing something important?
For example, the stock went up when the split was
announced some time ago. Is that when the effect of
a split makes itself felt most?

Any other caveats? Given that Oracle moves slowly,
is it worth just getting any small (say 1-2) point
move that comes up soon and banking it or is it
worth holding it until around earnings at the end
of Aug?

I know some folks pointed out the need for tight stops.
I just wonder--with a stock like this that doesn't
move in leaps and bounds, is it worth giving the option
a bit freer reign, esp. given that I have some time
on it, or are tight stops pretty much de riguer
on options, no matter what. If so, I am curious
what people think about how tight to put the stop
so as to avoid losses but at the same time avoid
getting out too soon, if there is such a thing?

Thanks to all who answer.
