In those days you could get a rum and coke for 35 cents. An 8 oz glass would have 5 ounces of rum, 2 oz of coke and an ice cube. The place where I ate supper all 5 nights, I ordered something different each time and every night I wound up with a butt steak, a piece of squirrel, a fried egg and a roll. The water had sand in it and even brushing your teeth with it would give you the green apple quick steps. The toilet paper was hard and corrugated which didn't help that situation. And the pigeons!! Feed one and 100 would swarm you. I mean land on you and fight for the food. Back then every thing was closed from noon until 2. That was nap time.
