High energy prices and rising production spell sweet success for Canada's EnCana

ALTHOUGH ENCANA is not well-known south of the border -- the Canadian border, that is -- it is one of the largest independent oil and gas producers in North America, and the world. Formed just a year ago through the merger of PanCanadian Energy, a Canadian Pacific spinoff, and Alberta Energy, the company produced daily more than 2.7 billion cubic feet of gas, and 263,000 barrels of oil, in 2002. |
