This rampant anarchy and looting of the museum, hospitals and everything else is a real stain on our mission. We're supposed to be convincing a skeptical world and country that the American invasion will improve the lot of Iraqis. This looting has done more damage to Iraq than the bombing.

The public relations damage is enormous, and the damage to our ability to work with the Iraqis to establish a new government is too.

Doc,
Are you kidding?

The bombing eliminated a murderous oppressive regime. Do you really think the Iraqis would rather live with Saddam and a few pretty paintings and artifacts.

Please remember Iraqi citizens are doing the looting not the coalition forces. Iraqi doctors looted the hospitals not American GIs. If the reverse were true, I would totally agree with you but it is not true.

a few American guards

We had a helluva lot of American guards. They were protecting oilfields, ports, power plants, water purification facilities, sewer plants, etc. All of that is part of the Iraqi national treasure.

Our guys are putting freedom, food, clothing, shelter, and infrastructure ahead of paintings....imagine that!
