Does it really matter, Hueyone? And it's more dilution caused by compensation that isn't expensed.

Performance based options indeed are expensed on the income statement (but since they are expensed, companies rarely use them.) So my question was trying to discern whether or not the latest "merit based awards" awarded by Cisco are the same thing as a performance option that is expensed. I tend to doubt that a "merit based award" is the same as a performance option, but it is worthwhile double checking. I am not familiar with the expression "merit based award". If indeed a "merit based award" is not a performance based option, then I wholeheartedly agree with the conclusions in your post.

Regards, Huey
