RE: "They did not attack US lightly imo." and "...I don't think the administration likes the solutions that will really work."

Bin Laden attacked the US because he perceives the US as the power behind everything in the world that thwarts his aspirations for his world order. I think the attack was too "lightly" because it awakened a sleeping giant and will be the final death knell for Bin Laden type aspirations. 9/11 will bring "solutions", but not enough to satisfy Bin Laden's ilk. There will be more democracy and a more equitable distribution of wealth in the Middle East. Israel will not disappear. Jerusalem will be Jewish, not Muslim. These last two will require that militant Islam be defeated because it can not be placated. The defeat of militant Islam has achieved a notable success in Iraq. Libya, Syria, Iran and, to a lesser extent, Eqypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan have been shown graphically that there is no military option. There is no future for programs which develop WMD or support terrorism. Pakistan has learned that terrorists they support to threaten India also threaten the US and they saw what happened in Afghanistan. If there comes a time when militant Islam ceases to exist, Jerusalem will become Jewish and Muslim, the way it should be.
