1. The interesting aspect of Goering's comment is that suckering the public is viable in both a democracy and a dictatorship. Hitler came to power through the ballot box in the early 1930's.

2. The weapons we destroyed are far smaller than the weapons we employed. The question is what political aims using our weapons will achieve beyond the immediate end of the Saddam regime. That was the quoted citizen's point, not adding to or subtracting from the world's weapon supply.

3. I choose to believe this war is not about terrorism because striking a camp here or a camp there accomplishes nothing. The Israelis have been bombing terrorist training camps for decades without much tangible effect. You need to learn more about how to check terrorism (tracking down top Al Qaeda aides like the guy they nailed in Pakistan is the answer).

4. The liberation of Iraq will have very little consequence for us down the line. It's one of a dozen states in the region. There is a difference between "good" and "important". Regardless, the US will not invade other states with similar human rights records just for the sake of liberation. It's a nice-sounding excuse - we clearly don't follow the rule as a matter of policy.

5. I agree that we aren't going to war over economic interests. But presenting an image of force when that image is utterly useless in international economic groups like the WTO, which are essential to our future prosperity, is naive at best. The countries that opposed us in the war are not going to roll over and do all they can to make our economic lives easier just because we are running Iraq. It's a non-sequitur.
