<They'll only torture the bad guys, not me.>
Of course, that's the deal, to maintain your patriotic support for the AngloSphere war effort. Your pleasant existence will not be disturbed, as long as you keep your end of the bargain: 1. think Correct Thoughts 2. do only Correct Action 3. wave the flag and 4. stay between the dotted lines.
<fingernail pulling, or is it only to be some face-slappy>
That depends on whether the work is subcontracted out to Afghans/Egyptians/etc., or done directly by Americans. Nobody knows the methods used on prisoners we hand over to Egypt, because they are never seen again. Not much is known about the goings-on at Bagram outside Kabul, other than the occasional "beating to death with blunt instruments".
At Guantanamo, other methods are used. Sophisticated, bloodless, results-oriented, modern civilized torture. After a great deal of experimentation and study, reliable methods of "breaking" a human being, have been developed, that leave no physical permanent marks. That helps a lot, with the PR and Plausible Deniability afterward, not that any of Us particularly care what happens to Them. Sleep deprivation, isolation, months of confinement in small wire cages, this is the face of today's KindlerAndGentler torture. The Progress of Humanity, led by America, rallied beneath the BattleFlag of Freedom, will eventually mean that all torture is done this modern way.
Have a nice day. And stay between the dotted lines. |
