' it is rule of Iraq by Diktat but it isn't rule of Canada or anyone else'

Well obviously you're not familiar with the 'Commerce' department assault against our forestry here, or the numerous threats made on us by various parties including the ambassador Cellucci ... many implicit and more than a few explicit threats made against México as well, trying to use by force the current place on the security council to justify the made-in-Washington agenda ..... true enough, no tanks rolling in our direction yet, far as we can see, but there is without question a lot of pressure to toe the neocon line or else

'The UN is not sovereign over other states.'

But the US is?? ..... de facto it is, sure, and that is precisely the problem .... put yourself in the place of a non-US national Tim, or even in the place of a US national who does not accept the principle of direct rule of the planet from the back rooms of Washington - try to imagine what it feels like to be on the receiving end of this fist-shaking

Soon as you start talking legalities of international law it's a jungle, multiple points can be argued until the end of time, it's not my line of argument, nor that of anyone i know ..... what rational people of my acquaintance think, is that projects like the invasion of sovereign nations should not be done on the Diktat of the rulers of any single other nation, such events can be legitimised only by a reasonable quorum of democracies who have debated the matter and decided on action ..... 'a reasonable quorum of democracies' - that doesn't hand the french or anyone else a veto, it means precisely what it says, seems reasonable to me, whereas the propaganda coming out of the Bush II bunch does not, it would not even without their perfidy against our forestry .... can't help but notice, they're cranking up the justification rhetoric against the syrians over the last few days, just like they started up against the iraquis last summer .... it's not that difficult militarily to link up with israeli tanks from where they're at now, and that's unlikely to be the end of it either, real neocons want to roll tanks on Tehran, they say

Either of which may or may not be a good idea, doesn't matter, it's that as canadians we're watching this stuff, and we're watching above all the attitude, and the attitude is very very arrogant .... already we know not to trust this bunch, after what they're doing to us in forestry, maybe we were lucky in that in a way, we had no illusions to get broken
