It's a difficult problem. On the one hand, we know that Bush and his Evil Empire are greedy, and they give the big tax breaks to the richest people in the country. From what I've read, the Pentagon was warned that the museum might be looted.
Plus, we know about Bush' and his White House mongrels contacts with industry. Remeber when Wolfy was caught talking to Intel about his stock? And Wolfy got Carlucci from Carlyle to meet with government officials from Taiwan when they were here a few years ago. Then there was Enron. Bush and his predators ties with industry go on and on.
On the other hand, I believe Bush and Company are vicious people so they might want to destroy the 7,000 year-history that was in the museum. I'll have to look at the articles in today's NYTimes, but I understand that the museum documented the Middle Eastern culture. The loss is tragic and there will be people who will argue that the loss of this museum is one of the worst things that occurred in this terrible war.
Still, If you read Hedges book, you might believe that folks in power may be wicked people, and you might believe that they would destroy a national or international museum for money and for cultural reasons. They want the money, but they also want to replace the past with their own propaganda.
