DuPont in Talks to Sell Textiles Unit
Monday April 14, 8:45 am ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - DuPont Co. (NYSE:DD - News), the No. 2 U.S. chemicals company, on Monday said it is in talks with an unnamed party over the possible sale of its DuPont Textiles & Interiors unit.

DuPont, based in Wilmington, Delaware, said the talks are in the preliminary stage and it cannot guarantee they will result in any transaction.

The company also said it is exploring a possible initial public offering for the unit, which makes nylon and polyester fibers under the Lycra and Stainmaster brands. DuPont said in early 2002 that it would shed the business by the end of 2003.
