When I first moved to this country it was very weird to see and hear people talking down their own government and making fun of their president on TV. It was soon apparent that this is part of the true freedom that America stands for. The amount of disagreements over issues between the right and left has caused people to truly hate the other side, so much in fact that sometimes they forget they are all on the same side, the side of freedom.
9/11 brought much more unity than this country may ever see again. It is unfortunate that we are losing that unity and are back to criticizing each other as much as possible. This is the same as greed, it's all about next year's elections.
Left or Right, we all live in the same country which we love. We want to preserve our freedom and so does our government, in most cases, specially when it comes to global issues that not everyone understands. I understand if many people want to question their government and protect their rights which the government may be stepping on locally or nationally, but how much does the average Joe understand when it comes to International issues? IMO, not much. Trusting your government and their decisions when it comes to International issues and unity in support of any US troop involvement is key IMO in keeping America strong. Your America!
We need more international sports a la European Soccer for example which can remind people which side they are on, not the right or the left but, the side of our nation.
The Americans which have a hard time trusting their own nation should ask themselves why there are so many immigrants trying to come into this country to live? Maybe they know something you've forgotten, The USA, even with its internal divisions is where the government has provided a free lifestyle for everyone. Free enough for you to talk down your own government all you want, do you really think most other people in the world have this luxury? Stop your moaning and enjoy your life because you're one of the few who can, it would be a shame if you die tomorrow without realization of just how good you really had it. |
