"Basic" - John Travolta, Samuel Jackson

Complex story line. Not as much about "basic training" as I expected. But, it does give you a good idea of what basic training is like for Army Rangers. They come out of there ready for just about anything.

There are some interesting flashbacks sequences that will focus you on the subtle clues from earlier scenes. I guess they assume you weren't paying attention at the appropriate points.

Movie wasn't bad. Lots of twists and turns. Too many, in my opinion. The only one that surprised me was the last one, but that's because I thought the movie was almost over.

Don't think too much about the dog-tags. The way they were used undermines the believability of the whole movie.

Worth seeing, but leave your pre-teens at home. Blood, guts, profanity. Just like real life.

A good role for John Travolta, in that it didn't require much acting. His character is flippant and arrogant.

Just like real life. [LOL]
