Rocker, it's not a bad question. My wife is principled along those lines--against taking life including capital punishment, war, abortion. She abstained from IUDs because they allowed conception, but prevented the egg from successfully attaching itself. She said if she had prior knowledge of the atrocities Hitler would commit, she still would not have intervened by killing him! (I'm unable to comprehend that, really!) Buddhists have worn SARS masks for years so they wouldn't inhale an insect, thus taking a life. Killing innocent people is a good place to stop the killing. A friend of mine opposes the death penalty because even one innocent victim is too many. Consistent principle is good to strive for.

I am sympathetic to those positions, as I would be of a CO. I am not sympathetic to those opposed to this war on political grounds, but for it when a democratic president did it. I am in general more practical and allow for death and damage in the endeavor of stopping evil. Here's a link to arguments along those lines.
