Both the concentration of power and current behaviour with it are concerns .... of course only abusive behaviour in use of the power brings the concern to light, i don't think i made an half dozen political posts on SI before summer 2001 when the 'Commerce' department attacked my province, well maybe a few joking around, lots on the old Did Slick Boink Monica thread for instance, but i hadn't been political since Nicaragua was being attacked in the eighties, nor had others around me here in Real Life

Levels of trust - well i would trust Fox somewhat more, limited though because he operates within constraints, no one will ever be faced with the quandary of trusting him or not, really, la política mexicana es otra cosa [he lost Casteñada as foreign ministre, now there was a man] .... i would trust Chrétien no more than the Bush II regime, though on quite distinct grounds .... we're no great fans of him out here in Lotusland, his power base is backeast ... there is no one perfect, we have no heroes, not even any decent examples really .... Harper may be closest imho, but he must learn to stand up, lead us in defense of the nation, not just get trapped into taking the diametrically opposite positions from the government

But none of these people really matter to my neighbours, or to some muslim or centroamericano or indochinese defending his home or business ... they just don't count for much in the great scheme of things ..... why not, well because they're not in control of such concentration of power over us .... there has been many a decade of control by Backeast in this country, with serious problems, yet never did they set out to bankrupt my neighbours, and if they had they wouldn't have had the power to do so

I think you're wrong on this - 'There is no world policy.' ... quite wrong, there is very much a world policy, it is in the hands right now of people to whom power is a drug, they are greedy for it, impatient .... try a google search with 'Project For A New American Century' ... [and be aware that by 'American' they emphatically do not intend its definition, 'of and pertaining to the Americas'] ..... there is also some site, aei.org i think, quite an insight into the agenda .... i'd look up some links but have to go any minute now .... oh right, you use on me here the word 'complaining', well i'd call it more observing really, that would give a fine british understatement touch to the level of rage involved ..... cheers
