American Power Conversion Chosen as Uninterruptible Power Supply
Provider For HP NetServer LXr Pro system

WEST KINGSTON, R.I., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- American Power
Conversion (APC) APCC today announced that it has been named the
uninterruptible power supply (UPS) provider of choice for Hewlett-Packard Company's newly introduced, rack-optimized HP NetServer LXr Pro system.
APC is introducing the Smart-UPS NS series: three optimized, rack-mount UPSs, tailored specifically for the HP NetServer LXr Pro system. Each Smart-UPS NS is fully compatible with the HP rack, and with its coordinated front panel, the Smart-UPS(R) NS series has the same industrial design as the NetServer LXr Pro system. As with all of APC's Smart-UPS UPS products, the Smart-UPS NS series is integrated with HP management tools such as HP OpenView enterprise-management software tools and HP NetServer Assistant.

This announcement follows another recent collaboration between HP and APC for integration of APC's PowerNet simple network management protocol (SNMP) Manager with HP's OpenView Network Node Manager (NNM) for Microsoft(R) Windows NT(R).

APC's Smart-UPS NS series includes two main products:
-- The Smart-UPS 2200NS, a 3U high, 2200 VA device which is available for either 110V or 230V input voltage.
-- The Smart-UPS 3000NS, a 3U high, 3000 VA device which utilizes
208V input voltage.
The entire Smart-UPS NS series can support large rack-mount configurations of multiple HP NetServer LXr Pro systems and HP NetServer Rack Storage/8 disk storage systems.
The rack-optimized APC Smart-UPS NS series will be sold and
supported through APC's standard channels. These products are available for order fulfillment in late August with distributor stocking orders to begin in mid-September.
