Of course Iraq should get CDMA2000. They can go straight to the latest and greatest technology.

They won't be installing GSM.

It makes sense to get things going as soon as possible. Even if soldiers were still fighting, life goes on and everyone should do their bit, in parallel.

Faultline pointed this out to me long ago, but I got sidetracked. GSM is dud technology. Multimode handsets aren't far away and then people will be able to roam from CDMA2000 in Iraq to obsolete GSM in surrounding countries. Or, they could just buy a prepay GSM phone when they travel if they need one.

One shouldn't stick with horse transport because the neighbours are. Best to go for the latest and greatest cars.
