Alliance way won't do that, they would rebuild the military but then they would surrender its use to whatever adventure the bushistas thought up next

If you believe that, the CBC has had more influence than even I feared.
The Alliance is very independent minded in all respects: independent of the establishment and independent of any particular special interest group (except maybe the farmers, but that will change). It certainly would not reflexively follow the "Bushistas". The fact that they support this war is more a reflex against Chretien's attitude than a manifestation of any particular party policy. Of course, there is also a strong neocon element to the Alliance, which makes support easier to obtain.
