So the case is that the ird of the family is equally diminished by infidelity on the part of the male or female?

I don't understand about the divorce situation. It doesn't always apply, for example, in the case of a man's sister or daughter. What are other ways besides divorce that a male can "repair" damaged ird?

One hears stories about men's ird being compromised by a daughter's mere conversation with a male, or by the rape of their daughter or other female relation, and of their addressing it by having the woman killed "for the honor of the family."

Are these reports lies?

These area serious, literal questions. I'm not posting them to be hostile, I'm asking them to get the Muslim perspective on these questions.
