Emile,

If you look carefully at Robert Barry's 'Italian' remark you will see that he followed it with the <g> symbol.

On the Silicon Investor website this is standard nomenclature to indicate that one's remarks were made in a joking or non-serious manner. If he had not included the symbol I would've questioned his sanity myself.

It was clear to me that Barry was actually satirizing stereotypes and taking aim at your particular heritage just to make his point. I don't believe he was intending to spread that stereotype as reality.

Having said that I believe it would've been better if Barry had not made the remark, even in a kidding manner, if only because it is too easy for people to misunderstand his intent and take offense.

My own view is that we should all try very hard not to unnecessarily piss people off with remarks that are loosely worded. It's simply a matter of having a deep abiding respect for the heritage of others.

The kind of hate that you and Gustave, Craig and Anthony espouse is beyond me. It is simply wrong to paint an entire race, relgion or culture with the sins of a few. If you're pissed about something attack the specific indivdiuals not their heritage.
