Bridge I think this fits the bill: mrv.com
"The OSM series is an IP/MPLS high-performance router for carriers,ISPs and data service providers, designed as an intelligent Edge system between Access and Metro networks. These systems are engineered to serve as providers’ edge routers that connect all IP, L2 and MPLS subscribers to the services and participate in the Internet Ethernet IP backbone. The OSM has a modular-chassis based design with 4-, 8-, and 16-slot chassis designated as OSM-400, OSM-800, and OSM-1600. All chassis are capable of hosting a variety of modules including 4-port and 8-port 10/100 Mbps, 2-port, 4-port and 8-port 100Base-FX,1-port Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit redundancy module. Multimode and singlemode optical interfaces are available in a wide range operating distances, and include long-reach fiber and CWDM connectivity. OSM is capable of performing traffic engineering at Layers 2, 3 and 4, with enhanced security, high availability and sophisticated QoS while facilitating high-speed network connections for service providers."
My impression is that pricing is $11,995 for the chassis and then you start adding the different modules to configure it the way you want. The cost of doing that can easily double or triple the chassis cost. I suspect the quoted price for QLogic is chassis only but that's just my guess.
This machine was among those used in the Fibercity Manila installation I mentioned the other day. hc |
