Frank, Question: If a bomb falls on Baghdad and the stock market price level does not change, did the bomb make any sound? I won't deny Eric a good "sound" bite, (nor myself a pun, ggg), but we are seeing the impatience of modern culture in that cute remark.
The war may have been prosecuted with reasonable efficiency and the best possible job was done by the troops involved, but the changes amongst the interaction of cultures the war will bring about are going to move more slowly. More slowly and more certainly than remarks such as Eric suggest. When I refer to culture, I am not referencing Iraq in particular, but rather the Clash of Civilizations.
We have front row seats to a new ordering of the world, but no program to the acts or actors in that play and certainly no knowable facts as to the director or writer of the work. What we think we know about it, we likely do not, and what we do hear reported are distorted echoes of reality.
With my blood on the front lines I remain patriotic and true to my own culture, but professionally and market wise I am always skeptical, realizing the truth lies somewhere between conspiracy theory and the media line.
I have a few guesses about the end of the play, but due to time constraints, lack of evidence (but not of clues) and my now waning self sanction against posting, I will not hazard them here at this time.
