medium length People Magazine kind of piece on Fareed Zakaria ... The theme of the piece is whether he is in line to be the next Secretary of State in a Dem administration.

1. I think the implication was more about a possible Repub admin than a Dem one, since he has generally been a conservative over the course of his career (though trending centrist recently).

2. Silly piece, ultimately, I thought, written (or edited) by someone more interested in the social/professional/political climber stuff than in substance. As the quote towards the end from Newsweek editor Mark Whitaker points out, if Zakaria had been trying to maximize career success he would have stuck with one field rather than hopped job tracks every few years. Plus, a number of the quotes were fishy.

3. The recent Wine Spectator profile of him was better, I thought...
