Tom, sorry for the delay.... I apologize for my err in post.....you are correct and I was typing haphazzardly......

I am talking about a quad--mode system (correct)......interesting....it would be operational with existing GSM systems as well as CDMAOne systems and analog.....Or perhaps a tri-mode system that operates within existing digital technologies such as GSM and CDMAOne only.....

I believe that ERICY will be FORCED, through the market, to comply with a WORLDWIDE NEXT GENERATION STANDARD.... You are correct that a GSM/W-CDMA system would be an ERICY plan.....However, I would want to roam ANYWHERE in the world......not just over GSM.......remember those nasty (j.k.) satellite systems that are going up???? Hmmmmmm.....

One concern is that the spectrum and frequencies allotted from country to country vary tremendously and this would result in having to tweek the system to meet a given countries' policies.....

All I am trying to say is that a tri-mode system is the IDEAL system and my guess is you could probably trick the sytems into doing it......I'm no engineer folks.......What about the costs of such system......Time and time again, engineers amaze me how they drive costs down through efficiencies, moore's law, economies of scale, etc......

As for ERICY, the system they are working on, from what I hear, is not backwards compatible with CDMAOne products......but it needs to be , otherwise they'll LOSE MARKET SHARE AGAIN !!!!!!!! ERICY continues to amaze me over and over again......NTT wants to work with QCOM because they realize that IDO and DDI will be CDMAOne and they need the backwards compatibility for next-generation.....

Now the question is, will ERICY pull their heads out of their ................

Only time will tell if I'm a lunatic......or a prophet (j.k.) : ) <-----any comments????
