Lizzie:

1) We have sent 4 carrier groups home, other naval support (submarines, etc), the air wing in Turkey patrollin the no fly zone, the B2 bombers, and more I'm sure, so we are NOT going to start a war with Syria any time soon. The people who are saying this are the same people who have been wrong and continue to be wrong about this administration. They just hate the administration and don't care whether what they are doing is right or wrong.

Think about it. Unless there was some immediate crisis we respond to, the US is NOW not going to go to war before the Nov 2004 elections.

2) The end of last week the news (nbc pentagon correspondent Mike M??) reported pentagon sources indicated high "noise" in some north western syrian city (town) indicating senior Iraqi officals have fled to the area. This is why the administration if now putting pressure on Syria. Having a regime in exile next door to Iraq would undermine any efforts to establish a separate Iraq government.

3) Why is Syria in a panic? Maybe its because they have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Lets see:
Syria harbors terrorists.

President Bush has indicated his displeasure.

US forces are next door.

US forces just won a resounding victory in Iraq when the uninformed Arab world thought Sadamn would win (not the leaders just 98% of the population). Lets not forget its the same anti Bush faction who thought our troops would be bloodied and suffer massive casualties in street to street fighting (what was it 100,000 iraqi's and 5 to 10,000 coalition forces)

Syria is protesting they are not harbouring terrorists, any of Sadamn's regime nor weapons of mass distruction.

4) The Syrian oil was in violation of the UN. Well that really shouldn't be too much of a concern after military found Iraqi missiles made in France in 2002.

All one has to do is connect the dots.
