Anecdotal evidence. A flimsy basis for important law with far-reaching effects.
Later, when I was a management consultant, my group went off on a retreat and did the ubiquitous Myers Briggs temperament typing. Fully half the group were INTJ, like me. In the overall population, INTJs are one percent. We were more effective later when we "took affirmative action" to round out the group. Did I read that right? To correct a perceived problem with Myers Briggs types, you used a racial solution?

Isn't there something wrong here? Why wouldn't you give all applicants the test, then pick to get a mix of types? How do you know all the other races you are mixing in are not INTJs also?
Also, analytical ability and creativity are not enemies that cannot co-exist in the same person. There are many, many examples that prove that.
If your extended family is all lawyers, who is there on the team to give comfort to the ill or to fix the plumbing? Come now. People aren't machines that can perform only one function. You don't think there are lawyers who can also plumb?
If you live in a retirement community and have no contact with young people, you lose a lot of creativity. There's no one to program the VCR. You learn. Adaptability is crucial in this age. You need to reprogram yourself several times along the way. Are you now doing the same work you did when you first started working? |
