Gas tax would be a good way to cut consumption, promote efficiency and pay off the deficits. But Bush has actively fought against efficiency so he's the wrong guy for the job and now we're ill-prepared for the benefits of a gas tax.

One thing is for sure, someone is going to have to pay off these deficits. I vote for the very rich. Who else can afford it? And who benefits most from our military strength? We need consumers healthy not drained even more.
