To correct a perceived problem with Myers Briggs types, you used a racial solution?
Of course not. The solution had nothing whatsoever to do with race. It was about finding more extroverts and more touchy-feely types, other Myers Briggs types. Our group wa so introverted and analytical that there was no one to plan a baby shower, for heaven's sake.
That was my point when I said the word, diversity, had been co-opted by the group-rights folks, the civil rights folks. There IS strength in diversity. Good old non-PC diversity, meaning introverts and extroverts, and experienced and wide-eyed, and hot-blooded and cold-blooded, and diplomatic and plain-speaking, etc. "Diversity," the latest buzzword for racial balance, is another matter entirely. I am utterly persuaded that diversity is a good thing and it's a shame that we can't address it without the notion of race-based aggregations intruding. Race has little if any correlation with actual diversity. |
