Well it is no secret that America is going to act in the interest of our own security and prosperity. It is also no secret that the US/UK did not try to say that taking Saddam out was ONLY a humanitarian cause on behalf of Iraqis. There are/were tons of reasons. Certainly, the effect on Kim Jong Il was one of them. Tony Blair said so many times in his passionate speeches. How are we going to deal with the future menaces of the world if we cannot even stand up to a guy who has been sticking his finger in the eye of the UN for ten years and blatantly and openly pays suicide bombers in Palestine.

When considering all the data points here , it really makes the French position completely ridiculous. They should have saved their position in the world for a more noble cause. Like Spain has. Spain has said to the US to back off on Syria. The fact is, the US isn't going to be doing anything militarily in Syria anytime soon.
