James,

I very much like the idea of a WMD free Mideast that includes Israel.

However, wouldn't it be reasonable for Israel to ask the other Mideast countries of the region that they be officially recognized by them? Would a non-aggression pact between all the Mideast nations also be a reasonable prerequisite to this proposal?

After all, Israel would have such weapons because of the fear of the rather large Arab-Muslim majorities that surround them.

What do you think are the chances that Syria would be willing to modify their WMD-free proposal to include Israel recognition and a non-aggression pact? What do you think the chances are that Iran, Libya & Saudi Arabia would agree to recognize Israel and sign a non-aggression pact?
