I posted the two reasons once before, Makkah and Medinah. If you want a Holy War you might get one here.

Yes, the Wahabbis were instrumental in supporting the Saudi Royals. Yes, there is support for madrassahs and some teach very fundamental Islam. These madrassahs are places where terrorists are recruited but that is not why they exist. They would be impossible to shut down as they both feed and educate the young. You might think of this somewhat like the shutting down catholic church run schools because they produce some pedophile priests. It is not an all or nothing proposal.

Saudi Arabia and most ME governments are at risk from the same kinds of fundamentalists that have been actively attacking the US, Europe, the Phillippines and India in the Kashmir.

Try and remember that the 9-11 guys went to school in Germany and learned to fly in the US and traveled all over the world. They were Arabs and Islamic Fundamentalists first and not Saudi Nationals operating as agents of their government. The average Saudi may not want US troops in his country or indeed anywhere nearby but that does not mean they back these anarchists except maybe in a bravura way because they lack some self-esteem.
