I have no axe to grind on the Kerry issue. However, I have heard from many, both personally and in media, that the 'regime' remark was at least ill-advised. It gave an opening to that 'right-wing Republican Guard spin control' you mentioned. He should choose his words more carefully. It would be interesting to find out, in his true heart, whether he considers saying that a mistake.
