Zonder,
"When you take out the amounts you objected to in the post you have written in reply to Emile's, what number remains?"
That's really an inappropriate way to estimate the true amount sent to Israel. .
First, the article was incomplete. It did not attempt to account for the entire $1.3 trillion.
Secondly, Emile's misinformation ultimately emanates from a consultant by the name of Thomas Stauffer. Some items mentioned in the article were missing information. For instance, in one instance the article states that Stauffer adjusted his figures to be understood in terms of year 2001 purchasing power. Anotherwards, he inflated the figures, but the article doesn't say by how much.
Lastly, Staufer was incredibly biased. Part of the $1.3 trillion aid to Israel estimate he came up with actually includes aid money sent to Egypt and Jordan. Stauffer's reasoning was because if it weren't for Israel the United States wouldn't have sent the money to these countries. Well, the logic escapes me. Aid to Egypt and Jordan shouldn't be included in the estimates of aid sent to Israel.
Also, as I mentioned, Stauffer has done work for the Palestine Center, an aid organization for Palestinians, which leads me to conclude that he has biases similar to the ones we've seen on this board by Posters like Emile, Gustave, Anthony, Craig, G.J. and select others. |
