Even though you realize that there are many many stories in the alternative leftwing press that never make it into the mainstream media, you still insist on the view that the mainstream media is somehow a leftist force in society? I just picked up the latest issue of Nexus Magazine (Ever heard of it? Not particularily political in one direction or another, but interested in uncovering conspiracies and paranormal matters). And they have a story titled "The Top 20 Censored Stories of 2002". It lists a slew of scandals and stories that would make the government/corporations look bad that never made it into the mainstream media in any meaningful way in 2002.

I think there is some credence to the belief that the "liberal media" is more of a myth then reality. I guess if you're a social conservative, like many Americans are down South and in the Heartland, then the mainstream media's coverage of mainstream/liberal social issues makes it seem liberal (and rightfully so, depending upon your prespective). But, on matters of economics and government/corporate scandal, the mainstream media is rather moderate and seems to be more interested in protecting (conservative) rather then challenging (liberal) the status quo. I'd say the mainstream media is socially liberal and economically conservative. Depending upon your political viewpoint, you'll look at it differently. I think that is why there is so much debate about whether or not the maintream media really is liberal or not.
